National Cash Transfer Office
About NTCO
The National Social Safety Net Program - Scale Up (NASSP-SU) became effective in January 2023 as a continuation of the National Social Safety Net Program (NASSP). NASSP-SU builds upon and expands the existing delivery system to provide responsive safety nets, extending regular social assistance to those who are poor and vulnerable. The program offers time-limited cash transfers to help address the impact of rising food prices and inflation. Apart from the COVID-CT initiative supported by NASSP, these cash transfers represent Nigeria’s first large-scale shock-responsive safety net program. The project also extended the support duration for current beneficiaries of the NASSP regular cash transfer program. The program has a target of 15 million beneficiaries.
Project Development Objective
To expand coverage of shock responsive safety net support among the poor and vulnerable and strengthen the national safety net delivery system.
