9:T598,NSIPA is Nigeria’s central institution for coordinating and delivering large-scale social protection interventions aimed at supporting the poorest and most vulnerable populations. Established in 2015 and subsequently strengthened by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (Establishment) Act, 2022, NSIPA was transformed from a department/programme (NSIP) into a statutory agency with a clear legal mandate to design and implement social investment initiatives, manage beneficiary databases, strengthen payment and accountability systems, and work in partnership with states and development partners for effective nationwide delivery. The Act institutionalized governance by structuring NSIPA into six core programme departments, each representing a key pillar of social protection: the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO), Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), N-Power, National Social Safety-Net Office (NASSCO), and the Grant for Vulnerable Groups (GVG). Operating under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, NSIPA addresses immediate and long-term socio-economic inequalities, promotes equitable resource distribution, and serves as a catalyst for inclusive economic growth, with interventions that have positively impacted the lives and livelihoods of over six million Nigerians
